Marketing Coordinator

Arizona State Parks protects and preserves 35 State Parks and Natural Areas.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Chief of Marketing:

  • This position serves as the Marketing Coordinator and is responsible for planning, development, coordination, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of marketing initiatives. As well as, strategies, plans, partnerships, deliverables, and collateral for the agency and its programs.
  • This position serves as the project leader of marketing projects.
  • Primary duties include managing social media efforts, email marketing, content management, marketing campaign coordination, market research, and working closely with the state parks, trails program and other aspects of the agency.
  • The Marketing Coordinator works with the Outreach Coordinator to engage community organizations, visitor centers, marketing organizations, businesses, and stakeholders.
  • Work with schools to coordinate educational activities, and with the parks to incorporate classroom curriculum.
  • They will work with community groups and healthcare organizations to establish partnerships promoting health and wellness.
  • The Marketing Coordinator represents the agency at various meetings, conferences, or events, including with other governmental jurisdictions and community groups, and deliver presentations as needed.

State-wide travel and overnight stays may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have knowledge of:

  • The principals and practices of customer marketing and outreach.
  • General principals of park and recreation management.
  • Social media, online marketing and web content management.
  • Educational outreach and health related benefits of recreation.

Must have skills in:

  • Proficient computer skills including: multiple apps, Mac and PC, website CMS, presentation software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Creating plans.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to develop relationships.

Must have ability to:

  • Work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Establish properties for multiple projects and multi-task.
  • Accommodate multiple and changing work assignments.
  • Effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Create partnerships and build professional relationships.
  • Present information and explain programs to large and small groups.
  • Work within deadlines and facilitate on-time project completion.
  • Travel statewide, occasionally overnight or for multiple days.

Ability to obtain and maintain a current Class D Arizona Driver’s License. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

SELECTIVE PREFERENCES:

Degree in marketing, recreation and tourism management, or closely related field and two years of marketing, community outreach, recreation management, or closely related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Outdoor recreation background and special event coordination desired.
