Job Summary

Provides planning and coordination of GateWay Community College and Skill Centers, internal and external events; assists with the development and implementation of program/project goals and objectives; and performs research and analysis in support of assignment.


Essential Functions

40% – Serves as the primary point of contact for the administration, project management, and coordination of special events for the college including operational planning, budget administration, problem-resolution, and technical assistance; provides direction regarding the planning, marketing, and promoting of college internal and external special events; partners with internal departments, stakeholders, and external clients on tactical and strategic planning efforts to produce successful and cost effective events
20% – Consults with all levels of management within the organization to execute the implementation of facility services and events on behalf of the client and client contractors; ensures that client needs are met by providing information, technical assistance, and compliance monitoring regarding applicable laws, policies, rules and regulations
20% – Takes lead as the point of contact for scheduling of events, contract coordination, line item negotiation, and communication amongst internal and external clients and stakeholders; provides coordination, direction, and/or supervision of staff for events; evaluates issues; researches alternative solutions; and provides recommendations
10% – Performs professional research and analysis related to events; researches industry standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies; designs and prepares reports, proposals, functional communication materials, and presentations related to current and prospective events; performs statistical and policy analysis; makes policy recommendations that enhance or align with the mission of the college
5% – Manages special event budget; works with internal fiscal department to ensure charges and billing are accurate and executed; manages the purchase and inventory of promotional marketing items for the institution

5% – Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in education, business or public administration, or a directly related field and one year of experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis and preparing reports.

Or

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.


Desired Qualifications

1. Two (2) or more years of professional experience in developing, implementing, and leading public relations and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

2. Two (2) or more years of professional experience in preparing and implementing a budget.

3. Two (2) or more years of experience leading change within a collaborative business environment.


Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver’s License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements


Position will be required to work at multiple sites and locations.


Work schedule will vary; will be required to work some evenings and/or weekends.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
