Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:
This position, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is responsible for managing capital and expense projects that involve adding new equipment, modification of existing equipment, or process improvements related to the plant manufacturing equipment.

This responsibility involves applying the following engineering related skills: Funding requests, budgeting, safety reviews, designing, purchasing, scheduling, installation, supervising contractors, start-ups, and maintenance technical support.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to work with cross functional teams to improve the manufacturing process in assigned production department.

Responsible for the safe design, procurement, installation, debug, start-up, and operation of the plant equipment and projects as assigned. Support the production needs as necessary for equipment operation and reliability.

Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment and control problems to keep production equipment operational.

Prepare design reviews, budgets, schedules, drawings, and scopes of work for project implementation and provide the necessary information/project documentation and training for emergency maintenance and preventative maintenance crews.

Effectively manage and control spending of the yearly capital and expense budget targets. Capital project budgets can range from $25K – $5M.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical degree

2-10 years of work experience. Work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Prefer experience with project management, equipment setting, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, piping, conveyors, leveling/alignment, welding, machine design, installation, startup.

Candidates should also have knowledge of SAP, MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office
