We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Ohana. This position will be located at our corporate office in Honolulu, HI.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Staff Accountant must be able to work independently to analyze and record financial data to the proper general ledger accounts in accordance to GAAP, and DCAA guidelines. The Staff Accountant must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment. The position will require adherence to accounting policies and procedures and adaptation of new processes and task to ensure proper maintenance of the accounting system. The Staff Accountant must follow established policies and procedures, alert his/her supervisor if a task or process is out of compliance to existing policies and procedures and recommend changes to the policies and procedures when new tasks or procedures are implemented.

The Staff Accountant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have an understanding of math and bookkeeping. They must be professional, motivated, and highly organized. They must be able to work well alone, with their co-workers, vendors or customers. The Staff Accountant must be able to follow instructions and be adept at general office skills. They must be willing to acquire the necessary knowledge to process information in the company accounting databases. The Staff Accountant is responsible to maintain and update his/her job procedures documents files & folders as change occurs.

  • Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, communicating job expectations; planning, & monitoring. Review job contributions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves accounting operational objectives
  • Implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Maintains financial security by ensuring that accounting staff adheres to internal controls.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding & enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.

The Staff Accountant duties shall include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews all invoices, journal entries, and checks processed by the Accounting Assistants; Payables and Receivables Assistants.
  • Review all Daily, Monthly, and Annual Reports processed by the Accounting Assistants; Payables and Receivables Assistants.
  • Analyze and record financial data to proper general ledger accounts in accordance to GAAP and DCAA guidelines.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance.
  • Maintain and update Accounting Assistants job descriptions.
  • Manage the Deltek GCS Premier Accounting System.
  • Communicates any issues, problems and or proposed action to resolve issues to the Accounting Manager.
  • Update and Maintain COG [Cost of Goods] worksheets.
  • Process annual Inventory audit.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 1-2 years experience OR 3-5 years’ experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
