Airport Customer Service Pool – Language Qualified

This is a language qualified posting. Candidates must be able to proficiently speak Cantonese, Japanese, Korean or Mandarin in a business setting and will be subject to a bilingual
screening process. Language qualified Customer Service Agents work all flights and assist both non-English speaking and English speaking guests.

**Candidates who apply for this requisition may be considered for future screenings throughout 2017.**

Candidates must be able to attend all screenings in-person. Travel to the screenings and any subsequent relocation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate. All

Work Schedules for All Positions:

During training: Up to 10 days full-time, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Training will be conducted in our offices in Honolulu and is unpaid.

If hired: Schedules are awarded on a seniority basis. All shift schedules, including part-time, are 5 days on, 2 days off. Days off may not necessarily be consecutive. Schedules are set, however, may change throughout the year in conjunction
with the collective bargaining agreement. Part time is 20 – 30 hours per week and may be extended to 40 based on operational need.

Candidates with restrictions in their availability will not continue in the recruitment process.

About the Airport Customer Service Pool:

We recruit candidates to fill current and anticipated future needs at the Honolulu Airport. Successful candidates are placed into a hiring pool and are called upon to attend training as positions become available. When contacted, you will be advised of the
training dates. Training is up to two weeks (typically Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm), and is unpaid. Training is held at our Corporate Offices in Honolulu.

The Airport Customer Service Pool is comprised of two positions: Customer Service Agent and Contract Service Agent.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs any one or combination of airport duties involving customer contact and operational duties. Such duties shall include, but will not be limited to:

  • Servicing of all inbound and outbound passengers and handling of cargo, as well as preparation, reporting, and accounting of necessary documents in conjunction with this service.
  • Performing ramp operation in conjunction with the loading and unloading of passengers and cargo.
  • Servicing inquiries regarding reservations, ticketing, flights, freight, and other requests.
  • Handling cash and charge transactions.
  • Checking and correcting airport reports and
    other documents.
  • Pay and Benefits:

    • In conjunction with the Collective Bargaining
      Agreement, pay is $10.71 per hour (eff. 1/9/17)
    • Medical, dental, vision and Hawaiian Airlines
      flight benefits are offered

CONTRACT SERVICE AGENT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Service Agents are Hawaiian Airlines employees who provide Customer Service Agent duties for other airlines. The other airlines contract Hawaiian Airlines to provide services to their passengers. Performs any one or combination of airport duties involving
customer contact and operational duties. Such duties shall include, but will not be limited to:

  • Checking-in passenger and baggage.
  • Making reservations for air using the Sabre reservations system.
  • Boarding passengers at the gate.
  • Assisting passengers with lost and found claims.
  • Handling and tagging baggage, cargo and mail.
  • Cleaning
    aircraft and other areas.
  • Loading
    and unloading trucks and aircraft.
  • Pay and Benefits:

    • In conjunction with the Collective Bargaining
      Agreement, pay is $10.71 per hour (eff. 1/9/17)
    • Medical, vision and Hawaiian Airlines flight
      benefits are offered

LANGUAGE QUALIFIED CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to proficiently speak either Cantonese, Japanese, Korean or Mandarin.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Able to pass computer skills test (type 25 wpm)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain a ramp license.
  • Have good command of the English language, written and verbal and be able to speak intelligently and effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of geography of Hawaiian Islands and general knowledge of world geography.
  • Able to work under pressure with the public and all levels of employees.
  • Must have good customer relation skills.
  • Must have physical ability to:
    • Constantly walk and stand.
    • Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
    • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. and ability to buddy lift more
    • Occasionally open and close doors on all aircraft types
    • Push or pull baggage carts
  • Body art, including tattoos and body piercing (other than one stud in one lobe), shall not be exposed while performing job duties and must be covered at all times by a uniform piece or removed.

LANGUAGE QUALIFIED
CONTRACT SERVICE AGENT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to obtain ramp license.
  • Strong customer service agent orientation.
  • Able to obtain proper restricted area clearances (AOA, Customs).
  • Able to work under pressure with the public and all levels of employees.
  • Must have physical ability to:
    • Constantly walk and stand
    • Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
    • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. and ability to buddy lift more
    • Occasionally open and close doors on all aircraft types
    • Push or pull baggage cart.
  • Body art, including tattoos and body piercing (other than one stud in one lobe), shall not be exposed while performing job duties and must be covered at all times by a uniform piece or removed.

***HAZMAT MATERIAL TRAINING PREREQUISTE- Per 14 CFR 121.1005(b) requires each crewmember and person performing or directly supervising any job functions involving any item for transport on board an aircraft to receive HAZMAT Training respective to their
job function prior to reporting to that department.
