Planner I

The function of Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is to promote and enhance the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners, and businesses of Gwinnett County. The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high quality development as well as maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Department consists of the Administration Division, the Strategic Infrastructure Planning Division, the Economic Development and Planning Division, and the Development Division.

The Planner I position is assigned to the Development Plan Review section within the Development Division. The position will be responsible for the review, approval, and permitting of commercial and residential site development projects located in unincorporated Gwinnett County to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and ordinances, in addition to issuance of sign permits, addresses, Temporary Use Permits; meets with and assists design professionals, contractors, developers, business owners, and the general public regarding county regulations and ordinances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Planning.
• One year of related experience.
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above.
