IT Manager

Position Description

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about analyzing, designing, and implementing information systems as well as be able to monitor and maintain the computer systems of the organization. The role of the IT Manager is to act as an analyst and provide system support to the organization, as well as providing leadership and analysis by performing the following:

Essential Duties and Functional Responsibilities

• Manages and drives performance of enterprise & desktop software.
• Interfaces and identifies alternatives for optimizing the usage of IS platforms.
• Participates in testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting software.
• Provides assistance with operating systems and software.
• Facilitates text formatting and file conversion and transfer.
• Installs software and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of operating systems and workstation environments.
• Performs hardware maintenance and repair activities.
• Diagnoses and resolves hardware issues.
• Acts as liaison with manufacturers and vendors of software and application products, especially with regard to problem diagnosis and resolution.
• Plans for software version upgrade releases.
• Studies and trains on specialized software.
• Provides training on specialized software for employees as needed.
• System Administrator as needed for system maintenance.
• Recommends selection of hardware, software, networking components, and services.
• Installs, configures, and tests workstations with supporting hardware, software.
• Manages wireless communication systems including cell phones and tablets both with and without Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools.
• Monitors device usage to insure business appropriate
• Maintains strong network and device documentation
• Maintains clear and consistent documentation of work performed using work order tracking system
• Insures network and system security
• Work extensively and effectively with central data center
• Travel may be required up to 50% of the time to visit regional office and job sites to provide technical assistance when the need arises though significant support will be performed using remote access tools.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor s degree or higher in Information Technology
• Three to five years related experience in IS support or leadership role.
• Construction, mining or heavy manufacturing industry preferred.
• Experience in working in a matrix, decentralized and ambiguous business environment.
