Senior Data Engineer

We are DISH.A successful Senior Data Engineer will have the following: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree; 8 or more years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.4 or more years of experience in data management systems or related technical experienceProficient understanding of distributed computing principles.Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources.Experience with querying and designing databases using one or more of the following: MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle SQL, Hadoop or other database system.Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others to clarify requirements, quickly identify problems, and collaboratively find creative solutions.Ability to assist in documenting requirements as well as resolve conflicts or ambiguities.Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Certification through the level of Splunk Architect.6 or more years of experience in programing using one or more of the following: Java, C/C++, Perl, Python, or advanced Shell scripting.6 or more years of experience performing general Linux and/or Windows system administration; including installation, maintenance, upgrade, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting and resolving operating system issues.4 or more years of experience in machine learning and statistical modeling.1 or more years of experience with using the R statistical computing language.1 or more years of experience with Agile at Scale, SAFe, and Lean Systems Engineering.DISH’s Digital Broadcast Centers provide advanced online video delivery and satellite video delivery for broadcasters and pay-TV operators across North America. Through our network of uplink centers, these world-class facilities are also home to DISH’s 24/7 traffic, technical operations, and satellite access centers.

This team is comprised of experienced professionals dedicated to providing customers with an unparalleled level of service delivering content and programming to over 16 million subscribers every day. DISH is seeking an innovative and passionate Senior Data Engineer to join a DevOps agile team that provides analytical and operational data, design, and visualization. This team uses the scaled agile methodology to create a team-driven culture via ceremonies such as big room planning, demos, innovation days, and retrospectives. This position is an opportunity to design, develop, and contribute to the overall engineering design of complex, real-time, mission critical environments that will propel the digital TV and movie delivery industry into the future.

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories: Act in a technical leadership capacity: Mentor junior engineers and new team members, and apply technical expertise to challenging programming and design problemsDevelop high-volume, low-latency, data-driven solutions utilizing current and next generation technologies to meet evolving business needsPromote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processesEstablishes standards and guidelines for the design & development, tuning, deployment and maintenance of information, advanced data analytics, and text mining models and physical data persistence technologiesWork with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needsCreate data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader#CB1 #LI-PC1
