Administrative Support Clerk (OA)

Serve as Administrative Support Clerk for Engineering Service, Fargo VA Healthcare System. Recieves and directs service requests and work orders for Engineering, Biomed, Logistics, and Environmental Management Services through computer database systems. Other duties include, but not limited to:

Main point of contact for Engineering Service for service requests and other maintenance issues

Maintains current and new user provision requests

Code and transfer work orders; review requests and transfer to shop or service line responsible for work

Track and complete Corrective Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance work orders

Enter equipment location information into database and place identifying bar codes labels on equipment

Prepare and monitor work orders generated from inspections’ deficiency reports

Provide filing support

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

General Experience for GS-4. Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.For this position, skillis usingcomputer programs;use various types of office equipment; use telephone to interact with customers; take and relay messages; apply knowledge of English grammar;spelling, punctuation, and proper formats for typed materials.

OR

Education for GS-4. Have completed 2 years of education above high school.

OR

Combination of experience and education for GS-4. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. For example, the position to be filled is a Payroll Clerk, GS-4. An applicant has 8 months of qualifying experience and 20 semester hours of college. The applicant meets 67 percent of the required experience and 33 percent of the required education. The applicant meets 100 percent of the total requirements and is qualified for the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements: A majority of the work is in an office setting where only light physical exertion is required.
