Summary of Work

This position will serve as one of nine Accounts Receivable Specialists assigned to the function of accounts receivable/billing for the eight Regional Human Service Centers. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Research, analyze, and respond to consumer inquiries.
  • Provide support and education to Human Service Center personnel.
  • Prepare third party insurance claims (electronic and hardcopy). Utilize software programs to validate outgoing electronic work files. Analyze problems and correct prior to submission.
  • Prepare client statements and pursue collections as appropriate.
  • Analyze, process, and apply payments from clients, insurance, and collection agencies.
  • Reconcile cash reports daily and monthly.
  • Research, analyze, and process third party payer explanation of benefits to ensure correct payment, follow-up on denials, request reprocessing, and appeal as appropriate.
  • Research and analyze accounts with credits and initiate the refund process as appropriate.
  • Run aged receivable reports, conduct research, analyze problems, and determine what needs to be done with outstanding balances.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires three years of work experience performing high level office support, accounting, bookkeeping or medical/mental health claims processing, that must have included lead work or supervisory responsibilities. College coursework in a business field may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience with:

  • Accounts receivable
  • Medical billing, including but not limited to processing third party insurance claims and/or payments, i.e. Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, etc.
  • Working in a medical/mental health setting
  • ROAP (Regional Office Automation Program) application
