Salary: $5,687 – $5,800 per month + benefits including fully paid family health insurance

Summary of Work

This position will manage the Plant Industries Division which includes the following areas: export certification, nursery, apiary, noxious weeds, waterbank, industrial hemp, biocontrol, weed seed free forage, and exotic pests surveys. This position will assign and supervise all division activities.

The position is also responsible for reviewing biotechnology permits, providing export certification, serving on various committees, attending meetings, assiting in developing and managing budgets, administering grants, and other duties as assigned by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of agriculture related work experience that included managing a budget and supervising staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of North Dakota agriculture
  • Work experience in plant protection programs
  • Knowledge and/or work experience in plant pathology or other closely related fields
  • Work experience in plant regulatory programs
  • Work experience administering grants
  • Work experience drafting proposed legislation and administrative rules or providing testimony
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
