Natural Gas Scheduler

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for the execution of daily natural gas scheduling and asset dispatch for Gas South’s portfolio of customers in Georgia, Florida, and other markets across the Southeast. This position interacts with schedulers from natural gas suppliers as well as local distribution companies to ensure effective gas supply operations in accordance with the rules and regulations of pipeline and LDC tariffs. This position works in conjunction with Gas South’s scheduling and trading desk, as well as the Supply & Risk Management (SRM) analyst team, to ensure that the appropriate volume of gas is scheduled to fulfill customer demand.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop professional relationships with schedulers from natural gas suppliers, ensuring necessary communication of nomination information occurs.

Analyze supply needs by pipeline and LDC on a daily and monthly basis, effectively responding to critical notices issued by pipelines and LDCs.

Navigate gas scheduling around pipeline and LDC maintenance, outages, and periods of operational constraint.

Execute the nominating of physical gas on interstate pipelines and LDC systems.

Retrieve daily and monthly customer consumption, to assist in the tracking of Gas South’s daily and monthly imbalance positions.

Verify and execute annual, monthly, and daily pipeline capacity release transactions.

Retrieve daily storage injections and withdrawals, including no-notice activity, to assist in decisions made to optimize inventory on a daily and monthly basis.

Support daily and monthly gas accounting and reconciliation activity.

Support key customer operational supply needs as may be needed from time to time.

Available for rotating weekday and weekend scheduling on-call responsibilities.

Fosters strategic relationship development with internal stakeholders and external market participants.

Ad hoc operational and financial modeling in support of company budgeting and decision making.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Business related.

1-2 years of experience in natural gas scheduling and/or asset management preferred.

Familiarity and experience with Atlanta Gas Light, Southern Natural Gas, Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line, and other LDC and pipeline tariffs across the Southeast preferred.

Comprehension of data analysis and modeling tools available in MS Excel, in particular the ability to ensure model integrity, build modifications and apply the models to commercial business decisions.

Understanding of numerical studies for regression analysis, financial modeling, probability/statistics, and optimization.
