Latin America Regional Leader

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Executive level Latin America Regional Leader for immediate employment for our Design & Consulting Services business in Latin America (LATAM). This ideal candidate for this position can be based in the USA or anywhere within the Latin America region. The LATAM Regional Leader is responsible for the business development, growth and operational performance of all units within the Area, as well as for delivery of the financial/operating plan. With current operations in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and other areas, the Regional Leader’s responsibilities include: development and execution of the strategic plan; development and guidance of top-line growth opportunities that cross multiple business lines; geopolitical and civic leadership/presence within the Area/countries; project management and delivery; and setting the “tone at the top” for collaboration and team building; ensuring a strong focus on clients; maintaining, a commitment to excellence and innovation; ensuring a safe and healthy work environment; and sustaining strong employee engagement. The responsibilities and leadership oversight of this position span: Business Development & Growth Strategy; Financial Management; Operations; Project Delivery; and People Management.

Business Development & Growth Strategy

The Area Manager works in collaboration with the Business Lines, Market Sector Leaders, Geopolitical Managers and Account Managers to implement the strategic plan to develop and capture new business and increase overall market share. The AM will Provide support and allocate resources required for the pursuit of new business and may advise on go/no-go decisions.

  • Lead regional/cross-business line sales and top-line growth
  • The “face” of AECOM in Latin America through a strong geopolitical presence and civic leadership
  • Supporting business-line-specific sales and top-line growth through opportunity development and capture (execution of strategy)
  • Setting business development budgets/priorities and allocating resources
  • Incorporating market research/intelligence to develop competitive assessments and investment strategies
  • Supporting End Market growth and market share expansion
  • Directing & maintaining technical competence/leadership/ innovation and industry prominence

Financial Results

Oversee and manage Profit & Loss – Delivery of Regional Plan/NSR (net service revenue), EBITA; Billings & Collections.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Profitability of all units Latin America;
  • Delivery of the Area’s financial plan including revenue generation, operating income, and working capital; and the commercial terms of projects that are within the limits of his/her delegated authority
  • Development of an annual budget; preparation of the financial outlook and other financial forecasts
  • Allocation of support and resources necessary to pursue new business and its conversion to bookings
  • Secondary Responsibilities: Oversee & drive regional bookings

Operations

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operational management of all business lines and offices within Latin America; oversees multiple disciplines/ practices/business lines within the area; ensures a safe, healthy, and ethical work environment
  • Serves as the operational leader for Latin America. Responsible for operational matters for all business units
  • Management of business unit leaders for and delivery for their financial and strategic plans, technical excellence, client satisfaction, quality, resource allocation, employee development and training, safety, and facility management
  • Leads a team of senior managers to achieve area goals/strategy, which in turn support region and geography goals/strategy
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees and the projects and programs managed. Champions the AECOM Safety For Life Program and ensures zero incident techniques are utilized and measured
  • Is a member of the Region Management Team, focused on optimizing the overall performance of the region

Project Delivery

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Client satisfaction; Project management – including project reviews, quality assurance/control; Margin achievement and preservation; Best practices
  • Directly and through subordinates responsible for project management and delivery across the Region that will result in margin achievement/preservation and client satisfaction
  • Ensures the delivery of exceptional technical work in accordance with: client expectations; contract scope and budget; and all applicable standards, including company, professional, quality, safety, and legislative
  • Through the Business Unit Leaders, is responsible for effective project reviews and quality assurance/control. Ensures proper resources are available, developed and/or acquired to meet the current and future delivery requirements of the Area
  • Oversees workload balancing, utilization, and sharing of resources

People

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, development, management, deployment, retention and engagement of employees; Strategic hires; Succession planning.
  • Responsible for recruiting, managing, developing and deploying employees – including managing talent and proactively champions the performance management and succession planning processes
  • Responsible for identifying strategic skills needed in the Area and recruiting/hiring employees with those skills
  • Sets the “tone at the top” for collaboration and team building, ensuring a strong focus on clients, a commitment to excellence and innovation, and strong engagement of employees
  • Ensures that AECOM programs such as Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity and Inclusion, and Ethics & Compliance are a significant part of the Area’s organizational culture

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 15+ years related experience, including 8+ years of business development and/or operations management in the Latin America region.
  • Record of successful senior level management/leadership experience supporting business line-specific sales and top-line growth through opportunity development and capture (execution of business line strategy)
  • Proven record of developing new clients
  • Ability to discern new markets and develop business in those areas
  • Outstanding oral communication, written and presentation skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is a must along with the ability lead, influence and collaborate across borders geographies, governments and cultures
  • Experience with public and/or private partnerships, concessionaires and joint ventures
  • Experience in legal, licensure and employment matters

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Fluency in Portuguese is a plus
