Junior Software Developer – ISD

The Junior Software Developer will be primarily responsible for developing and supporting the Secure Computing Department’s security
toolsets. This position will be primarily responsible for designing, scripting and implementation of organizational wide toolsets to enforce
and monitor security controls for the protection of classified computer systems, networks and information in accordance with National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Industrial Security Program (NISP)
standards.

Candidates must be motivated and energetic with the ability to work with minimum supervision. We are seeking a quick learner with a
good work ethic and an ability to work independently, develop requirements from meetings, identify implied tasks and prioritize work for
maximum benefit to the organization. Organization, time management, attention to detail, thoroughness, and decision-making
independence are essential.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Scientist

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Looking for a strong background in software development and management, scripting, database design, Linux and Windows experience to create, manage, support and oversee the use of security tool-sets for data manipulation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience as a software development project manager
  • Experience in Software Development Life-cycle
  • Experience documenting, analyzing and understanding detailed business requirements, determine technical level of effort required and prepare technical design and specification documents.
  • Experience preparing and implementing high-level technical, operational and user related documentation, diagrams or reports as needed.
  • Experience providing technical support to application users, as well as determine and solve system and programming related issues.
  • Experience providing recommendations for software development and implementation policies, procedures or best practices.
  • Experience in deploying enterprise level applications and services
  • Experience developing software in Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience with Atlassian products
  • Experience in an RMF environment
  • Experience with STIGs and strong government oversight environments
  • Database experience automating data and text manipulation
  • Proficient with SQL, PHP, BASH and PowerShell scripts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarly with continuous integration and ability to script automated tests, tasks, and tool-sets as needed
  • Willing to pursue professional learning, obtain IT and security certifications is a must

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.


Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
