Junior Associate, Fixed Income Analytics

What is the opportunity?

As a Fixed Income Analytics Associate with RBC Wealth Management you will actively engage in market making activity within assigned asset classes. You will provide Fixed Income system and technical support to all Fixed Income professionals; provide business analysis, subject matter expertise, and application support for internally developed Fixed Income IT projects and externally developed vendor applications; and develop, enhance, and maintain tools and reporting capabilities.

What will you do?

Design, develop, and execute various trading strategies; be fully conversant and knowledgeable of market conditions and industry changes; build strong relationships with other internal trading desks and complement their trading activity

Design, develop, analyze, recommend, and implement new tools and reporting capabilities to satisfy business needs. Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancement of existing tools and reports

Work with internal RBC partners and external vendors to implement new products & services to the RBC Fixed Income platform. Identify and prioritize system enhancements, document business requirements, test, communicate, and train users. Support vendor applications including Tradeweb Direct, Bloomberg, TMC, and others

Assess, research, analyze, document, and resolve issues and system defects. Communicate updates and resolution to users. Plan, prepare, and lead the execution of UAT test cases.

Serve as Fixed Income subject matter expert on enterprise projects. Assist with analysis, business requirements, and testing

Support daily activity of fixed income professionals by answering questions, provide training, resolve computer issues, troubleshoot and document system issues, communicate system changes and enhancements, and create & maintain documentation

Recommend technology solutions that satisfy business needs. Continually explore and asses options for technology solutions that meet business needs

Run scheduled and ad-hoc reports

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably with a concentration in Business, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science

Series 7 and 63, or the ability to obtain within 6 months from hire

Experience programming with one or more programming languages. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL Server, VBA, Python. Strong SQL writing skills

Ability to work in a fast paced, pressured environment with time deadlines. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects while ensuring that goals are met. Ability to independently develop and analyze alternative solutions and make recommendations. Strategic thinking with ability to translate to operational objectives

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels

Nice-to-have

0-2 years of progressive technical, analytical, or project experience, preferably in the financial services industry

Working knowledge of fixed income securities and products, trading characteristics and approaches, price influencing factors, and product area (including market liquidity, volatility, and pricing)

Strong risk management skills

Experience in Fixed Income technology systems (Bloomberg, Tradeweb Direct, etc.). Working knowledge of reporting tools, data visualization tools, and data mining tools
