Located on the Capitol Square in the heart of beautiful downtown Madison, the Wisconsin Department of Justice is seeking an experienced and innovative Java Developer to join our team of IT professionals.

Information Technology at the Wisconsin Department of Justice is undergoing rapid transformation. As part of a comprehensive IT modernization program, the Department is seeking to leverage secure cloud and hybrid cloud solutions for new services—via redundant data center facilities co-located near major internet exchanges.

The Department of Justice provides legal advice and representation, criminal investigations, and various law enforcement and victim services for the State of Wisconsin. Learn more about us on our website .

Position Summary :
This position works in the applications section of the Bureau of Computing Services and provides advanced technical and department-wide leadership services and will coordinate concurrent IT projects. This position is responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of large, complex law enforcement systems using advanced, web-based technologies. This position will work with analysts, designers, programmers, system architects, subject matter experts, and data stewards in identifying, analyzing, defining, and documenting customer business and data needs, system requirements, user interfaces, and business logic. Projects include multiple law enforcement interfaces, external and internal web sites, and internal administrative applications. This position will also work on: developing project proposals, scope documents, process flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, coding specifications, code development, testing, internal training, and implementation of applications.

Special Notes :
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOJ sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Justice will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOJ employees will be fingerprinted.

Qualifications :
Minimally qualified candidates must have professional work experience in the following:

1. Diagraming complex application components and overall architecture schematics to educate and inform peers and customers.

2. Reviewing, evaluating and assessing system architectures and application architectures for adherence to established standards and guidelines.

3. Decomposing problems using logical paths to resolve complex production application and support issues.
