The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position in our London Office. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from May 2018.
Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the London Office with the following key duties:
  • Assisting in identifying opportunities to engage local social media platforms to highlight visibility around donor government initiatives;
  • Assisting in sharing tailored WFP creative content with DFID, Irish Aid and other partners, as appropriate.
  • Helping to develop content for WFP London’s social media channels.
  • Assisting in identifying opportunities to engage gen-Z, millennials in the UK and Ireland
  • Monitoring the UK’s media, Parliament, NGOs and Government communications for issues relating to WFP’s work,
  • Supporting the development and running of events,
  • Supporting for the daily running of the office, and
  • Performing other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
  • Currently enrolled inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last six months;
  • Course attendance within the past twelve months;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English.
Desirable Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and evidence of writing for a range of online and offline communication channels.
  • Experience of using social media platforms to raise awareness.
  • Knowledge of Parliament, UK politics and current affairs would be an advantage.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
