Google Fiber Regional FP&A Lead

The Google Fiber City Financial Lead is an exciting position, demanding excellence in technical skills and a proven ability to work in cross-functional teams. You will partner closely with local stakeholders to represent all aspects of Finance. You are empowered to make decisions to drive controls, process efficiency and improvements for both finance and business-led initiatives.

You will gain a deep understanding of all aspects of the Fiber deployment and operations on the ground, working closely with the business leadership to drive efficiency and financial rigor. You will ensure financial accuracy and transparency for the regional and city financials. You will quickly adapt and respond to industry changes as well as internal initiatives, and you will thrive in an ever-changing, fast-growing environment.

You are an enthusiastic self-starter, with a desire to enhance existing processes and controls; scoping, designing, and implementing new and scalable processes to support Fiber’s growth. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales and Business Organization (MSBO), Network Deployment Operations (NDO) and other Finance teams to provide actionable insight into business performance, manage financial risk and develop and maintain scalable finance processes.

The name Google came from “googol,” a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Drive monthly, quarterly and annual financial planning cycles and visibility into business performance and resource allocation decisions at the city level.
  • Model and prepare large investment requests to Fiber’s spend committee.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the business by providing visibility into its performance, key metrics, insightful analytics and reporting tools.
  • Drive alignment across Finance teams, including FP&A, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax for the execution of partnership agreements and new business opportunities.
  • Expected to travel regionally.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in finance, management consulting, corporate strategy or similar environment.
  • Experience with spreadsheet softwares, databases, automation or business intelligence (e.g. SQL, TSL, Hyperion Essbase).

Preferred qualifications:

  • A reasonable understanding of accounting processes and terminology.
  • Expert with financial modeling; and able to build nuanced and robust models.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills, and the capability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Ability to self-start and self-direct work in an unstructured environment; comfortable dealing with ambiguity and defining the agenda.
  • Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills, combined with impeccable business judgment, leadership skills and ability to communicate with a executives and senior management teams.
