Business Systems Analyst

Materials Management is the umbrella organization that is constituted of three departments: Materials Support, Purchasing and WolfCopy. Each department provides central office support services to the campus community.

Materials Support manages the disposition of university surplus property; provides leased storage space to campus departments; manages the ordering, delivery, deployment and retail billing for compressed gas cylinders; manages receiving and re-delivery of large shipments.

The Purchasing Department, by delegated authority from the State of North Carolina, Division of Purchase and Contract, is responsible for the procurement of all goods and services not exceeding $500,000. The administrative function of the Department is to assure that proper and legal methods of procurement are maintained and to service the University departments by processing departmental requisitions in accordance with University and State guidelines.

The WolfCopy program provides comprehensive systems for multi-functional copiers, multi-functional printers, wide format printers (plotters) and student print quota services in public computing labs. Also includes services for cash stations strategically located across campus.

Essential Job Duties

This position will provide financial data analysis, perform data manipulation and database cleansing. Will research and document technical solutions to complex problems that meet departmental business needs. Work to continually understand and optimize university business practices with automation and robust reporting.

The position responsibilities include planning and managing end-to-end test execution for business systems. Create test plans during upgrade and enhancement cycles. Identify the requirements, document functional test cases, recruit and instruct the test subjects and complete the test plan reports in a timely manner. Work with the various program areas to collect and report data. Evaluate current report mechanisms for efficiency and accuracy of results. Respond to both internal and external data requests. Build business system queries, develop SQL , SQR requirements, store and retrieve data elements including documents.

The Business System Analyst will respond to end user system questions and requests for support. Identify and report system quality issues and escalate when necessary. Isolate, replicate and report system defects. Test and validate system enhancements and changes. Provide technical support to department staff to include computing environment and hardware support.

Minimum Experience/Education

Graduation from a four year college or university with a related degree to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institution.

Departmental Required Skills

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Experience writing technical documentation.

Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with deadline driven work environment.

Strong prioritization, organization and detail skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel and MS Access.

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Experience with WordPress or other website content management systems.

Demonstrated strength in collaboration and communication.

Excellent consultation skills.

Basic knowledge of Windows 10 OS.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Graduation from a four year college or university in a closely related field such as Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology, Operations/Supply Chain Management or Finance; Accounting with a concentration in Financial Analysis or Information Systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

5 years work experience in a business analyst role.

Customer support experience using ServiceNow or other call tracking software.

Understanding and use of relational database concepts

.

Experience in a Higher Education environment is preferred.

Experience in developing test scenarios to ensure quality production support.

Basic knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials.

Display initiative and be able to work independently.
