GL Accountant

Immediate need for General Ledger accountant to join growing team in downtown Houston office. SAP experience required for success in this contract opportunity. Will be assisting the team with month-end close, research, support documentation, etc. This position will also be responsible for maintaining month-end close journal entries and processes, as well as reconciling certain balance sheet account. Prepare, input and upload journal entries in accordance with GAAP. Maintain a standard checklist of period journal entries with GAAP. Maintain month-end close checklist and calendar. Provide support for the accounting team, to include research for month-end schedules and assistance with fixed asset inquiries/audit. Cross-train with others in the accounting group to provide back-up support as necessary. Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and related analysis, investigate and resolve necessary items. Prepare supporting documentation for all account reconciliations that is relevant, complete, concise, and conclusive. Assist in preparation of schedules and reports in support of annual and interim audit. Seeking candidate who can work as an independent worker, be very reliable, detail oriented, have excellent communication skills and be a team player. SAP experience is a must, Excel is a big plus.
