Full Stack Linux Engineer

The full stack developer role is about developing the backend services and API’s consumed by client front end applications(web and mobile). Develop and maintain internal web-based tools for managing and tracking remote IOT device status.

This position can be based in Portland, Oregon or Brooklyn, NY office.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Own and extend unified RESTful API to support various application frontends
• Integrate RESTful API services with distributed ledger, big data, and other systems.
• Maintain and extend IOT device management system
• Implementing unit and functional tests

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• BS degree in an engineering or computer discipline or relevant certification
• 5+ years software engineering experience
• Hands on experience with Ruby on Rails or Node.js building REST API services.
• Familiarity with AngularJS, React or similar front end frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise with several of the following languages: Go, Javascript, Rust, Python, C/C++, Ruby.
• Proficient in Unix/Linux operating systems
• Experience designing data persistence and caching concepts using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS (e.g.: MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, etc…)
• Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc…)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• History of working in startups or other fast-paced environment.

BONUS POINTS

• Devops experience with cloud systems and automated deployments
• Familiarity with blockchain technology, Ethereum or other, hands on or at least on a conceptual level.
• Understanding of cryptography, including asymmetric encryption (pub/priv key), symmetric encryption, and hash functions.
• Familiarity with git and the git rebase workflow.
• Experience with Embedded or IOT Services.
• Previous experience working in the energy or utility sectors.
• Experience contributing meaningfully to one or more Open Source projects.
