Job Opening: Front End Web Developer

Taoti Creative is looking for a front end web developer to bring our intracate designs to life on the web! Taoti Creative is a digital technology agency committed to doing whatever it takes to move the needle for our clients. And we need more help! Specifically, we need a front end dev (ideally with extensive Drupal and/or WordPress skills) at the top of her/his game. And someone who, despite being a coder, is deep down a creative, always looking to innovate and push the boundaries of what front-end code can do on the web.

The Job Itself

Your job, fundamentally speaking, is to take our designs and strategies and code them into highly interactived, meticulously polished websites. We like our front end devs to have some design DNA in them. Maybe you can’t quite push the pixels in photoshop, but you know when something looks good or not, and you can push back on the creative team (and the client for that matter) to suggest ways to take the proposed design up several notches to improve UX, UI, etc. You’ll slot into various teams on various projects. Most of our projects tend to be Drupal/Wordpress-based, but some projects don’t require a CMS, so good ol’ flat file sites are sometimes the best tool for the job. As we break into some emerging technology areas (virtual reality, connected devices, etc.), you’ll get to practice your trade on some really cool projects that redfine what a ‘website’ looks like and how it acts.

What We’re Looking For

First and foremost, you’re a well-rounded, upper-level front-end developer with the portfolio to prove it.

You’ve got extensive experience with (and opinions about) front end frameworks. We won’t insult you by writing out a laundry list of them here. You know what they are.

CSS is your BFF

You’re active in the technical community, contribute, go to events, etc.

You’re not afraid to stand up for better work, even if it would just be easier to agree with the client and move along.

You have a nagging pang to work alongside creative directors, art directors, designers, developers, strategists, and anyone else who you can rope into making a better product.

You write really good. And the improper grammar in that sentence offended your senses.

You’d rather pick up a phone than write an email.

You can both lead and be lead.

The phrase, “That’s not my job” doesn’t really make sense to you.

Creatives screaming ‘pixel perfect’ don’t scare you. In fact, it inspires you.

We’re looking for a seasoned veteran. Let your work prove how good you are.

Be yourself—not some version that you think we want you to be for the sake of an application. Have experience.

Show us live sites you’ve built, talk about teams you’ve led, technical challenges you’ve overcome, etc.

Tell us why you want to work at Taoti, specifically. And what was wrong with your last gig that makes you want to leave?

Be passionate and genuine. Can’t stress this one enough. We’ll hire genuine passion over talent any day.

Be energetic and outgoing. You need to be a ‘people person’ to do this job well.

Bonus Points if You Wanna Show Off

Have extensive WordPress and/or Drupal skills.

Have agency experience.

Be a thought leader (by virtue of having posted technical opinions on social media, spoken at cons, or similar).

Have a strong opinion on ‘headless Drupal’.

Be an artist/designer as well.

Have experimented with emerging technologies outside of your comfort zone.

Bring a team with you (sometimes front-end devs have a symbiotic relationship with a killer designer. If you do, and you want to bring your designer with you, all the better! We need some of those too!)
