Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with at least 8 years of related financial experience

Excellent analytical, operations, and communication skills

Demonstrated collaboration skills applied across different legal organizations and operating structures. Ability to balance creative longer term strategies while maintaining operational excellence in core services

Excellent technical skills with high proficiency in analytical application of relevant computer software packages including Microsoft Office Suite (especially, Excel, and Access)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration

Experience in a health care, especially academic medicine in a hospital-based department

Experience dealing with various healthcare provider types, including hospitals, physicians, ancillary providers, and vendors

Experience managing compensation and/or payroll

Experience in short-term and long-term financial business planning and contracting. Previous provider or payer contracting experience.

About the Job

This position serves as financial, contract, and compensation analyst for three Departments at the University of Minnesota Medical School and their related University of Minnesota Physicians (UMP) clinical units.

Duties include:
Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis

Develops financial forecasting models and projections based on detailed knowledge of department operations

Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial results for the department’s activities

Prepares revenue and expense entries. Oversees invoice payments to ensure accurate, and timely payment. Monitors accounts receivable.

Ensures compliance with University and UMP finance policies

Understands the flow and impact of physician clinical billing on department financials

Physician Compensation

Responsible for the timely implementation of physician compensation changes including compensation modeling, analysis, and communication. Maintains detailed individual physician compensation files

Ensures all compensation payments are accurately calculated and paid in a timely manner

Acts as an expert resource regarding faculty and staff compensation. Maintains benchmarks, understand trends, clarifies questions and thoroughly understands calculations. Completes salary surveys

Contract Financial Management

Acts as the key analysis contact and financial expert for all contract-related activities. This includes developing proposals and conducting contract analysis

Maintains a continuing review and report of the status of each contract from idea creation to signed contract and renewals

Prepares contract requests in system and maintains accurate system information related to all contracts

Data Management

Develops internal resources (i.e. reporting dashboards) that will assist in overall business/clinical operation measurements. Tracks progress against meeting key department metrics

Analyzes data to support revenue and expense entries

Maintains data structures including billing data queries and provider dictionary information

Salary range: $85,000 – $96,000 DOQ
