Job Description

Coding, unit testing (automated), and debugging applications/solutions in one or more software languages at a basic skill level, with a focus on software quality and maintainability

  • Demonstrate masterly of at least one programming language, tool and/or technology
  • Assists with Application improvements
  • Aggressively engage in the identification/remediation of software issues related to code quality, security and performance
  • Integrate software with existing software/systems
  • Knowledge of software testing
  • Knowledge of software debugging
  • Work closely with more experienced IT professionals to gain additional Knowledge and expertise
  • Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards
  • Assist with maintaining GM standards compliance
  • Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • The Associate Software Developer role will include the following responsibilities:
    1. Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns
    2. Coding, unit testing (automated) and debugging applications/solutions in one or more software languages at a basic skill level
    3. Software testing, quality assurance and solutions testing
    4. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
    5. Document software code or solutions and ensure that technical documentation i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements
    6. Integrate software or solutions with existing systems
    7. Maintain standards compliance
    8. Implement localization or globalization of software or solution
    9. Work closely with more experienced developers, software engineers and/or data scientist to gain additional knowledge and expertise.

  • Web: Java, HTML, HTML5, Javascript, Python, PHP, CSS3
  • Mainframe: COBOL, Mainframe, IMS
  • Frameworks: Struts, Spring, .NET, Jquery, ExtJS
  • Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, ASTER, MSAS, Hyperion, PL/SQL Programming, Stored Procedure Development, Performance Tuning,
  • Data warehouses/ETL tools: DataStage, BigInsights
  • NoSQL : Hadoop, Casandra
  • Web Application Servers: WebSphere, WebLogic, TomCat, IIS
  • Other: Business Intelligence, Mobile Development, Oracle SOA, SAP, Peoplesoft, Teamcenter/NX
  • Development Environments: Eclipse, Jdeveloper, Visual Studio
  • Major Standards: AJAX, JSON
  • OS: Linux, UNIX, Android, iOS
  • Tools: QC/ALM, Performance Center, QTP, Selenium, Subversion, Rally, Teamforge, Rational suite, Hudson/Jenkins, Sonar
