Designer – Mechanical

Under direct supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within one functional area, assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

Develop mechanical details as required for fabrication and installation of retrofit and new projects

Work with mechanical engineers to ensure all applicable codes, specifications and standards are met and reflected in designs

Work with the machine shops as needed during fabrication phase of high pressure components

Field measure equipment and piping

Maintain master drawings and drawing records in SAP database

Coordinate the execution of small projects by interfacing with other design disciplines, DuPont engineers, maintenance and construction.

Qualifications

Requirements/Qualifications

3 – 10 years of experience

Ability to take accurate field dimensions

CADD experience required as well as previous experience in the design of mechanical assemblies

Experience with 3D solid modeling software is preferred but not required

Must be able to climb ladders and stairs in an industrial environment

Walk down piping in an industrial setting

Candidate must be able to stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours

Must be capable in the case of an emergency to don a 5 minute escape pack, carry app. 8 lb. bottle of air to an evacuation point

If necessary to carry the bottle while walking app. 10 minutes to an alternate evacuation point
