Superior Completion Services is currently seeking a Designer for our office in Houston, TX.

Summary

The Designer is responsible for preparation of technical drawings to assist in developing downhole completion equipment for oil and gas wells. Design skills are utilized on component and system level assignments. The Designer will work with test lab personnel to perform qualification tests on completion equipment and must also perform basic to mid-level disposition of non-conforming product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare drawings and layouts for tools and equipment used in Completion Services (i.e., packers and packer accessories, well screens and well screens accessories, valves, etc).

Assist in assembly and testing of prototype equipment.

Handles routine paperwork and correspondence associated with product design and maintenance.

Actively participate in Design Development Reviews.

Check and approve drawings.

Initiate change notices.

Initiate purchase order requisitions and prototype manufacture work requests.

Interacts with individuals in other departments as part of the product development and maintenance process.

Assist in training and professional development of drafters.

Initiate test requests and write finished test reports.

Disposition of rejected parts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 2 years design experience.

3D modelling skills are required;

Inventor experience is a plus.

Creo/Pro E experience is a plus.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

Oil and gas industry and downhole tool design experience preferred.

Must be capable of “hands on” work in a test lab facility.

Understanding written statements in work related documents.

Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions.

Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

EDUCATION

Associate’s degree and a minimum of two to four years in a mechanical design position.

Must have demonstrated design skills.

Formal education to include mechanical drafting, mathematical and work experience, which demonstrates advanced design/math skills preferred.
