Description

The Database Infrastructure Development team provides core infrastructure and technologies to developers and business users inside Morgan Stanley to effectively administrate databases. The team also provides controlled access to databases through automation tools and orchestration engines.

Our global team of database infrastructure developers (New York, Montreal, London, Tokyo, and Shanghai) is looking for a motivated, talented and dynamic Java/Python developer to develop database as a service and change management system for the firm’s Distributed Database environment. You will also focus on enhancing the current Distributed Database administration toolset and automation strategy while working in both physical and virtual Linux environments across various DBMS products (IBM DB2, SAP ASE(Sybase), SQL Server, Greenplum, PostgreSQL, Teradata).

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop change management system for various database product (IBM DB2, SAP ASE(Sybase), SQL Server, Greenplum, PostgreSQL, Teradata)
  • Implement the web interface for database provisioning and self-service tools.
  • Develop restful API for database as a service (DBAAS) and integrate with database configuration management system.
  • Integrate new database products and technologies into the system

Skills Required:

  • Strong programming skills in Java J2EE, core Java programming skills and Python
  • Experience with Spring, SOAP, WebServices, Rest
  • Experience with JavaScript
  • Experience working with a relational database management system (RDBMS) like SAP ASE (Sybase), PostgreSQL, IBM DB2 or SQL Server.
  • A working knowledge of UNIX (Linux, SunOS, etc.).
  • Have good communications, both verbal and written, of English.

Skills Desired:

  • Experience working with database change management systems.
  • Knowledge of the internal data structures of at least one major DBMS product.
  • Experience working and managing software on a large distributed environment.
  • Experience or knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of common IT processes, including ITIL and SDLC.
  • Ability to reason persuasively to influence decision makers at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously
