Background :

Organization in Wisconsin seeks a Data Scientist. Data Scientist will be mining, analyzing, and modeling structured / unstructured datasets within the Fraud space. Data Scientist will build advanced statistical predictive models and deploy leading machine learning algorithms to solve complex business questions (i.e. fraud / link / text analytics). Data Scientist will be using but not limited to the following tools: R, Python, SAS, Hadoop, Apache Mahout, Oxdata H20, MapReduce. Financial services, insurance, or operations research experience is desired.

Responsibilities/Experience:

  • Must have a MS or PhD from a top institution in a quantitative discipline
  • Must have 2+ years of experience in applying advanced statistical models and machine learning techniques to solve business challenges using the following tools but not limited to (R, Python, SAS, Hadoop, Apache Mahout, Oxdata H20, MapReduce, etc.)
  • Financial services, insurance, or operations research experience is desired
  • Will transfer existing H1 Visa and provide excellent relocation assistance

Responsible for modeling complex health care inquiries, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, data-mining and visualization techniques.

  • Integrates and analyzes large, varied data sets and communicates results of large-scale analytics.
  • Required Education

    • Master’s of science degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics, computer science or a related field,
      OR
    • A doctorate in epidemiology, statistics or biostatistics.

    Required Work Experience

    • Five years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience.
    • Ph.D. training will be counted as three years of experience.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with supervised (statistical) and unsupervised (machine learning) modeling.
    • Advanced SQL skills (e.g., proficiency in windowing function) and ability to experience querying large, complex data sets, including multiple joins.
    • Experience with data management in relational and non-relational (NoSQL) data sources.
    • Experience working on Natural Language Processing (NLP) in health care.
    • Strong programming skills relevant to data-science and big data frameworks, such as R, Python, SAS (preferred R) and data visualization tools such as Qlik or Tableau.
    • Expert knowledge of statistical techniques, including statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics and multivariate testing within the health care industry.
    • Solid foundation in analytics, with proven history of data-oriented project completion.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong written, oral and presentation, communications, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical approaches to all levels of staff, management and leadership.
    • Proven ability leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful product integrations within a matrix management environment.
    • Demonstrates and promotes a workplace culture of innovation, high performance, accountability, commitment, respect and collaboration.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time, multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
    • Results-focused, proactive and detail-oriented.
    • Strong knowledge of multiple platform capabilities and relational database concepts.
    • Expert computer skills, including PowerPoint presentations, database management, SAS programming, software and hardware configuration.
