Responsibilities:

  • Identify and onboard / ingest new data sets
  • Act as the first line of intel for new data by performing data profiling and data quality checks
  • Facilitate the production of data pipelines into our analytics environment
  • Product outstanding reference documentation to highlight and describe the data you’ve helped vet
  • Respond to adhoc reporting requests and identify areas to drive self-service
  • Data and Code Checks: everything we do is with integrity, and while getting something wrong isn’t the end of the world, we strive to provide the best intelligence from the get go
  • Partner with product managers to understand how people are using our products
  • Partner with engineering to drive and assist with proper data collection and processing

Qualifications:

  • SQL is a must, bonus points for experience with Redshift and noSQL databases
  • Some programming experience like Python, Java, or Scala
  • Understanding of software development and databases
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Strong bias to action and eagerness for ownership
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to maintain strong ties across the organization
  • Curiosity and an inner drive to learn

Job Description :
ETF is starting a data analytics and metrics program to enhance our operational and strategic outcomes through more informed decision making at all levels of the organization, from our front-line staff, up through our managers, and executives, and to our governing boards.

This position, working with a newly formed team of business management and data analysts, will initially focus on inventorying all of ETF’s data sources and current reports. The team will then identify key metrics in four areas tied to our strategic plan: financial, people, customers, and processes. We will then develop a dashboard of key metrics for the ETF Board to better inform them of our operation activities, outcomes, and issues.

We will adopt an iterative approach to this effort, starting small, using available tools and data, and quickly producing useful results. We expect to ramp this effort up as we learn and produce useful deliverables. We expect to shift from a small effort targeted on Board metrics into a major, enterprise-wide initiative by mid-2018 with additional, dedicated data analysts and data technicians.

Responsibilities :
Develop a thorough understanding of ETF data sources and provide detailed documentation.

Visualize complex data sets, draw conclusions and relationships, and develop actionable recommendations.

Design and develop dashboards for visualization of ETF data which are optimized for target audiences.

Develop rapid prototypes to help assess strategic opportunities and future business intelligence (BI) capabilities.

Work with advanced BI tool features such as complex calculations, table calculations, geographic mapping, data blending, and optimization of data extracts.

Provide insight into customer behavior, trends, financials, and business operations through data analysis and the development of business intelligence visuals.

Develop business performance dashboards and prepare executive level presentations to clearly articulate the results of the analysis. Qualifications

  • Present complex data in easily understood and meaningful charts, table, and graphs.
  • Identify and correct data problems through the analysis of dashboards, reports, and performance indicators.
  • Work with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and document business needs.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Assess the risks of various solutions and prioritize competing business demands.
  • Identify and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop documentation, design specifications, and training materials to create and support a highly effective BI platform.

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of human resources, financial management, health insurance, retirement benefits administration, or similar.
  • Experience in Tableau dashboard design and development
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in advanced SQL
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Experience and knowledge of MS Access, SQL Server, SSIS, SharePoint
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience working with Agile teams
  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in computer science/math/statistics/analytics or a related discipline preferred with 3+ years of database development/data mining experience, OR demonstrated ability to meet job requirements through a comparable number of years of technical work experience.

Nice to have qualifications

  • Experience working on teams with multiple Tableau developers
  • Experience leading a sizeable web-based analytics project using Tableau
  • Tableau certification
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.)

Qualification Must Have
