Junior Data Scientist

**Overview: **

Transdev is the largest private sector operator of multiple modes of passenger transit in North America, providing bus, rail, paratransit, shuttle, sedan and taxi services. We manage over 200 transportation contracts for cities, transit authorities and airports, providing safe and sustainable mobility solutions. **Responsibilities: **

The Data Science Group at Transdev On-Demand optimizes and analyzes projects across multiple transportation problems. As a data scientist, you will use data mining, algorithms, optimization methods, statistical techniques, and machine learning models to research and develop solutions for these problems. You will analyze the data to quickly find meaningful information and use that information to improve key performance indicators. You will work closely with subject matter experts to understand the problems and work with developers to implement solutions.

**Qualifications: **

**Minimum Qualifications: **

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline

+ Experience using a programming language such as R, Python, SAS, or Java

+ Willingness to take initiative and find problems or solutions that have yet to be considered

+ Ability to communicate ideas with both developers and executives

**Preferred Qualifications: **

+ Master’s Degree

+ Proficiency in SQL

+ Proficiency in R or Python’s pandas library

+ Experience with Excel pivot tables or Power BI

**Pre-Employment Requirements: **

**Physical Requirements: **

+ 100% of work is accomplished indoors

+ Long periods sitting in front of a computer
