Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor will directly oversee 4 accounting staff members and procedures and operations for cash, credit card transactions, general ledger and accounts payable for 23 companies. This will involve overseeing day to day processes and monthly deadlines, reviewing work product, as well as producing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. This position will ensure procedures are followed and develop areas for improvement. The Accounting Supervisor will help answer questions and troubleshoot issues from within and across other departments in the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide a positive, professional, empathetic and customer-focused manner
  • Team player – ability to work in teams, are open and receptive to coaching and feedback
  • Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, company credit card transactions and general ledger accounts
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department
  • Review and assist in month end processes as necessary
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives
  • Review and track monthly, quarterly and annual returns as required
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Hire, train and evaluate employees to enhance performance, development and work product
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies, procedures and process improvements
  • Oversee data flow and processes between accounting systems and subsystems
  • Prepare and assist with annual audit reports, information and questions
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting
  • Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of accounting experience and one or more year(s) of leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Accounting certification (CPA) a plus
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with accountants, vendors and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to manage large amounts of data.
  • Strong planning and organization skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft applications, specifically Outlook and Excel
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP
