Web Developer (Report: Dir of Creative, Ideas United)

As IU’s Web Developer, you will be creating modern, responsive user experiences, maintaining websites, writing new code, implementing updates, understanding and suggesting new solutions and technologies. The Web Developer’s core responsibilities include overseeing the successful creation, execution and maintenance of all IU and IU client digital properties.

You’ll be part of the IU creative team, so it’s crucial to have a good eye and an understanding of the broader concept/design, also understanding how elements need to translate cross-platform (web to mobile to social to print). An ideal Web Developer will have a passion for creating meaningful, usable digital experiences.

This person will be excited to grow iU’s online platforms, will have a great attitude, approach, and flexibility that allows growth from all perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the charge of building and maintaining web sites and implementing new designs

• Work with a wide range of technologies and platforms and must have experience with RoR, AngularJS, WordPress, Bootstrap, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP & more

• Understands and implements with UI/UX best practices and design principles

• Serve as the day-to-day contact on all IU created/client properties, providing status updates and deliverables and relaying all client feedback to the broader IU team

• Work closely with other departments to foster an understanding of operational workflows and a comprehension of client web needs

• Ensure timely delivery of all web needs in conjunction with the expected timeline(s).

• Keep up with current digital trends, technologies, and landscapes

Education and requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience specifically in working with and/or managing RoR/Angular JS, database environments.

• Must be able to communicate effectively, set goals and meet deadlines.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Familiar designing and testing across multiple browsers and devices

• Strong self-development skills

• Should have a strong background and experience in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Sketch, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP

• Ability to provide strategic and constructive feedback to cross-functional teams

• Organization and ability to multitask are a must

• Ability to function in fast paced deadline driven environment and willingness to work occasional extended hours.

• Experience interacting with clients is a plus

• Understanding / ability to build in iOS a plus
