Job summary:
As an integral member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s IT Web Technical team, the Web Developer is responsible for the technical implementation and maintenance of web/online projects. The Web Developer contributes to all areas of the software stack throughout the software development lifecycle for web and mobile applications. The Web Developer also collaborates with the Web Design and Content teams; providing technical support, troubleshooting issues and creating in-house tools and components to both empower and increase effectiveness of the web team collectively.

Core Responsibilities

Provide front-line support for the following:
Develop web pages, functionality and services for Monterey Bay Aquarium web sites

Support the development of resident apps by vendors

Integrate with third-party technologies using their APIs; this includes but is not limited to ecommerce, social, and enterprise solutions

Implement solutions in the following technologies: HTML, JavaScript/AJAX, CSS, ASP.NET Framework, C# Language, ASP.NET MVC, Web Forms, and MS SQL

Demonstrate that code is working by writing Unit tests early in the development process

Support the web team by answering technical questions, troubleshooting issues and providing cod

Perform routine maintenance and upgrades

Perform on-going clean-up of legacy code and ensure that the website is rendering well on all major devices / web browsers

Ensure that all bugs discovered by the QA Engineer are resolved in a timely manner

Retro-actively roll out code changes across the website and document changes / standards

Write Unit tests for legacy code

Complete infrastructure projects in collaboration with the Web Technical team

Absolutely Required Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education

B.S. degree in computer science, or equivalent training or experience

2+ years professional experience hand-coding client-side web technologies: CSS, HTML5, JavaScript (jQuery/Angular experience is a plus)

2+ year professional experience developing web applications using ASP.NET and C#

Experience creating and maintaining REST APIs

Experience with MSSQL

Professional experience maintaining web infrastructure: IIS Web Server, MS SQL Database Server, and AWS

Experience with Git

Desired Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education

Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services)

Experience with the Atlassian product stack (JIRA, Bamboo, Confluence)
