Vice President of Operations

RAM Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of residential and commercial windows and doors, is in search of a seasoned manufacturing professional to fill the position of Vice President of Operations (VPO). The VPO will oversee the Company’s manufacturing, shipping / warehousing, and service departments for the manufactured and distributed product lines.

PURPOSE

The VPO is a key member of the executive team and is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of manufacturing, warehouse, and service operations. This individual is accountable for managing all plant and warehouse personnel focusing on continual improvement, cost reduction, safety and quality. The VPO reports to the President of RAM.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Lead, manage and develop plant employees. This includes establishing direction, gaining commitment, delegating, and building organizational capabilities;
  • Coordinate the daily activities of the facility, including staff and material resourcing;
  • Oversee work order management, material flow, and material handling to ensure efficient utilization of said resources;
  • Provide active oversight of the Company’s process workflows, including integration with applicable ERP systems;
  • Create a work environment that ensures the safety and health of employees;
  • Achieve the expected level of quality service by ensuring adherence to company quality standards and proposing improvements to quality procedures based on observations of production processes;
  • Prepare major equipment budgets and project plans including creation, design and execution of plans for major CAPX initiatives and repairs;
  • Design, install and start-up single piece flow assembly lines for window manufacturing;
  • Recommend and implement material flow and storage improvements to support lean operations in the assembly department;
  • Specifically improve the performance of all key KPI’s in the manufacturing areas through utilizing rapid, continuous process improvement tools including Lean, value stream, kaizen events, and Six Sigma where appropriate.;
  • Maintain, track, and report all key KPI’s, and other relevant information, to both the internal management group as well as at the Board level;
  • Participate in root cause and corrective actions (from customer complaints, internal rejects, validation, and verification activities) as required; and
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts and work with supporting functions to implement change.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field;
  • Prior product knowledge experience with windows, doors, and/or building products strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years of high level plant management experience leading a workforce of 50+ employees combined with a tenured track record of progressive leadership responsibilities;
  • Direct experience with production, engineering, warehouse, maintenance and quality functions in a plant environment;
  • Proven collaborative and participative management skills are essential including experience in building strong teams;
  • Experience and success with process improvements including utilizing continuous process discipline such as Six Sigma, 5S, Lean or equivalent disciplines;
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing employee safety and environmental compliance;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
  • Organized and Self-disciplined.
