Train Station Attendant

Recently named Employer of the Year by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Rocky Mountaineer is currently hiring for Destination Hosts.

These are part-time roles: Friday nights from 16:00 – 21:00 and Saturdays from 11:00 – 16:00 on the 12 arrival/departure days. These Seasonal positions are based at our Seattle Station. You will need to commit to the entire season from April – October. This role is a perfect addition to your work – life if you are looking for part-time hours in a rewarding role!

The Destination Hostis RM’s front line of service at destinations and is responsible for providing excellence in guest satisfaction by providing direct service to guests during arrivals and departures and dealing effectively with guest requests.

You will be responsible for…

  • Representing the RM brand, provides exceptional guest service to ensure an efficient transfer of guests during arrivals and departures
  • Resolve concerns from guests, train staff and public, escalating ongoing issues to station management;
  • Completing pre-arrival/departure tasks such as, but not limited to; motor coach signage, preparing coffee/tea service, preparing hotel keys for distribution, delivering supplies to train (eg. newspapers, souvenirs), ensuring hotel check in kits is fully stocked;
  • Loading, unloading, tagging and sorting of guest luggage at the station, hotels, and/or motor coaches
  • Communicating with hotel staff and station management regarding guest luggage issues
  • Maintaining station equipment such as setting up/removing signage, setting up equipment for station events, stanchions, coffee station, luggage carts, etc.
  • Assisting guests with mobility requirements including operation of wheelchair lift as required;
  • Assisting with station traffic flow as required by guiding motor coaches, luggage trucks and directing guests and public
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure effective station management.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

This role requires….

  • Ability to be at the station on time by the start of your shift
  • Flexibility with your hours is required if there are train delays
  • Availability for operating dates: May 20, June 3, 17, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, Aug 26, Sept 2, 9, 16
  • Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
