Systems Engineer

Under general direction, performs in a system engineer role. Primary focus will be on Billing, Accounts Receivable and Collections (BARC) systems, and occasionally may need to help maintain other systems. Conducts technical design and documentation, code implementation, and production release. Provides ongoing support and service to Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) clients in the use of their systems and during emergencies. *LI-KA1

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge of multiple development technologies, including but not limited to Java (1.1 to 1.6), SOA, and XML.
• Knowledge of Java technologies including applets (1.0), servlets, jsp, Javascript, ejb, and JSTL.
• Knowledge of Java frameworks including Spring framework, Struts, and Apache Axis2.
• Experience with VB
• Experience with SQL Server Databases (SQL Server 2000) , including DTS and SSIS
• Requires development experience with Eclipse.
• Requires web server experience such as WebSphere and Tomcat.
• Excellent facilitation, discovery, analysis, and prototyping skills.
• Fast learner and self-starter with an entrepreneurial work ethic.
• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• The successful candidate must be able to define, interpret and develop complex operational and system interfaces for large enterprise wide applications with support from domain engineers and/or government staff.
• Experience using SVN and Git.
• Experience translating business functional specs into technical requirements.

Applies advanced software concepts to design, implement, and test new features required for maintaining highly complex systems, and for supporting highly complex interfaces to other campus systems. Using advanced industry knowledge and tools, plans and directs the execution of functional test plans for highly complex systems, including development test data sets and scenarios. Initiates and designs processes for software design and code review to ensure clear interpretation of requirements and highest quality of application development.
