Switchboard Operator – PRN (Fri, Sat, and Sun)

Work Days/Hours:
2pm – 10pm Friday, 12pm to 8pm Saturday and Sunday

24 hours per week,

Key Functions

1. Monitor emergency systems

Monitors the status of the emergency panels

Notifies the proper authorities in the event of an alarm or other emergency

Upon notification, activate emergency codes as directed.

2. Answer/direct all incoming/outgoing calls in a professional and courteous manner.

Answers/directs incoming calls appropriately

Provides patients and staff the services necessary to complete calls outside Menninger

Assists callers in a courteous manner.

3. Assures the call center service status of patients and staff is current

Maintain on-call lists

Maintain confidentiality by utilizing the patient BUM list.

Provides other information necessary for accurate call center service

4. Operate radio base station to coordinate communications

Operates the radio base station in order to coordinate communications with Adolescent Services, Adult Services, Facilities Management, Health and Safety Department, and on-call staff

5. Documents of all pertinent and confidential information

Documents accurately all emergency, paging, and radio communications and other required documentation.

Maintains confidentiality regarding patients, staff and affairs of the organization.

6. Assure continuity of Facilities Management mission statement through punctual, regular attendance and reliability.

Does not abuse or take advantage of PTO.

Provides proper notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness

Consistently is on time and ready to work at the start of the shift.

Is willing to adjust work schedule and/or hours to help during emergency and crisis situations.

7. Assure the successful operation of the Facilities Management Department

Accepts accountability for compliance with Menninger policies and procedures.

Identifies and reports unsafe hazards to supervisor.

Demonstrates, by practice a comprehensive understanding of relevant portions of Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct by carrying out work tasks in accordance with the Plan and the Code.

Actively participate in the Team STEPPS program

8. Demonstrates an understanding of developmental tasks and special needs for, and the ability to

establish rapport with children, adolescents, adults and older adults/geriatrics.

9. Complete other duties as requested

Accepts additional assignments willingly.

Demonstrates an ability to perform a variety of duties, maintains flexibility as departmental needs change

Demonstrates an ability to respond to changing workloads and crisis and emergency situations.

Education

Required: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

Required:
Previous outstanding customer service experience

Basic typing and computer skills including Microsoft Word

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work courteously and effectively with employees, patients and the public

Ability to respond appropriately under stress and in emergency situations

Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to speak articulately; ability to use appropriate grammar and vocabulary

Ability to accept instruction and to work cooperatively with others

Available and willing to work other shifts and holidays as needed

Dependability

Preferred:Prior experience as a telephone operator or receptionist
