Senior Virtualization Engineer

In this role, you will be supporting the engineering and operational efforts of a global company with advanced systems to achieve the organizational goals of Coyote Logistics. We are looking for an accomplished VMware engineer with advanced Cisco UCS and Windows experience to provide architecture, engineering, and operations support for Coyote’s virtualized environments.

Daily Tasks & Responsibilities

Designs, installs, configures, optimizes, and administers virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V) products and associated domain hardware.

Researches, designs, installs, and administers IT Automation and Orchestration solutions.

Daily support of VMware and Windows environments.

Provides exceptional technical support to all colleagues and customers of Coyote Logistics.

Resolves escalated help desk tickets and provides afterhours (rotational) support as needed for problem analysis and resolution.

Interacts with vendors for quotes, support, new technologies, and vendor relationship tasks.

Analyzes metrics to identify optimization opportunities and utilization/capacity trends.

Identifies modifications to implement and improve operational support.

Maintains and communicates project plan and status updates proactively.

Trains and mentors less senior colleagues as required.

Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Skills, Characteristics, & Experience

Minimum 7 years technical experience of VMware vSphere installations and administration in a predominantly Windows Environment, previous experience in a fast pace brokerage or trading firm a plus.

Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral communication.

Must be a team player with a desire to train and mentor junior engineers and to help foster a strong team environment.

Advanced working knowledge and experience with VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5 and PowerCLI.

Advanced working knowledge of VMware vRealize Orchestrator or other virtual infrastructure automation and scripting tools.

Good working knowledge of Cisco UCS Director Orchestration.

Knowledge of Citrix XenDesktop v7.x and NetScaler v11.x a plus.

Experience with SAN/NAS technologies (Pure, xIO, and VNX a plus).

Experience with Cisco networking technologies.

Experience using proactive software and hardware monitoring solutions like vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, and ActiveXperts.

Experience utilizing Microsoft PowerShell a major plus.

Experience with Microsoft Azure a major plus.

High level of ownership for supported environments and applications.

Advanced troubleshooting skills to determine root cause of incidents.

The ability to see the “big picture” and scope requirements to the organization’s direction.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience.
