SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

This position will perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, administration, performance tuning, upgrading and cloning of multiple databases and application servers. Will define, develop and document standardized database procedures,
tools, backup and recovery methods, performance tuning methods and disaster planning, in addition to providing DBA mission and life critical 24X7 database support on Windows operating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all production DBAs are available per SLAs.
  • Monitor Performance of Databases to ensure that databases are performing optimally.
  • Ensure database implementation follows standards and meets technical requirements from data architect.
  • Ensure that space allocation is sufficient and optimized for all databases.
  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with Solutions Delivery team.
  • Implement models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
  • Perform database transaction and security audits.
  • Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the team Work with developers to construct SQL queries, table structures and stored procedures.

Required skills/experience:

  • 3+ years of DBA experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience administrating SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016 Ability to write Window scripts to support database maintenance.
  • Demonstrable skills in creating and debugging T-SQL code.
  • 3+ years coding and troubleshooting in T-SQL.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to adhere to standards for SQL Server, table definition and naming objects.
  • Ability to contribute to the design of databases, tables, and T-SQL scripts with application developers.
  • Experience in query optimization and database performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of SCOM, SMS, Replication Services, and Integration Services is desirable and knowledge of Oracle is a plus.
  • Microsoft SQL Certification preferred.
