Software Engineering Intern

Job Description

Help us shape the future of cognitive computing by becoming part of a small, agile team that is no stranger to the reactor pattern and writes asynchronous code for breakfast and taming worker threads in the afternoon. Then mix it all up by uploading JavaScript code on the fly and running it on our backend. Responsibilities * Design and implement a service that runs JavaScript, Python and other programming languages in a sandboxed environment on top of the JVM * Build and deploy Big Data pipelines using StreamSets* Produce efficient, maintainable, reliable code and unit tests * Work independently take ownership of significant deliverables and decisions * Collaborate and coordinate with team members, other engineering teams, and product management

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

– 6+ months experience in distributed software systems

– 6+ months experience with Vert.x or other asynchronous web application frameworks

– 6+ months experience with at least one automated build framework e.g. gradle, Ant, Maven

– 6+ months experience with a distributed version control system e.g. git, Mercurial

– 6+ months experience with at least one scripting language e.g. Python, Bash, perl

– 6+ months experience with JavaScript on the web and the back-end

– 6+ months experience developing and maintaining installation and upgrade processes for distributed software systems

– 6+ months experience with Java 8, including streams and lambdas

– 6+ months experience with Nashorn JavaScript engine or similar
