Software Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY — Analyze, design, develop, test, document, and implement new or modify existing software to meet ongoing software development needs. Provide in-depth technical and / or business knowledge to handle complex issues. Ensure software meets business requirements, follows development standards, and maintains data integrity. Follow established processes for the software development life cycle with an iterative approach to delivering software. WORK ENVIRONMENT— Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and implements changes to new and existing software applications using VB .NET / C# and T-SQL
• Create, maintain and modify SQL server databases, indexes and security
• Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct
• Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
• Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes
• Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software
• Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program
• Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation, and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language
• Consult with and assist computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs
• Developing applications interfacing with SQL Server databases and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports
• Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or HSDE preferred, any degree or technical schooling would be an advantage

Experience: At least two years of IT Software development experience in VB.NET or C# preferred ; experience in a manufacturing environment would be an advantage

Computer Skills : Must demonstrate computer literacy; experience with and understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, 2008, 2010 using VB or C#, Source Control, T-SQL, relational database (Microsoft SQL Server), Microsoft SSRS, ERP software, mobile device (barcode scanners) development, warehouse management systems, Clippership/Kewill Integration, and Microsoft Office
