Senior SAS Analytics Best Practices Consultant

Description

The Senior SAS Analytics Best Practices Consultant will be working closely with our SAS, R, Python programmers/Analyst/Modelers and serve as liaison between the user community and our analytics platform. They will also act as a back up to Platform admin for when the admins are out on PTO. They will also work on SAS Code snippets to demonstrate different best practices for modeling, data preparation, etc. This resource will also introduce new users and group to the SAS and BI platform and how to best work with the SAS Grid. Looking for this resource to be looked at as the "data analytics" SME. Lastly, this resource will help our team research new technologies that would help our data scientist community. This resource can work entirely remote and/or have an office in Manchester, NH, Medford, MA or Cranston, RI.

Responsibilities
  • Work with and support different types of Analytic Users using SAS, R, Python (Data Scientists, Statisticians, Data Analyst, SAS programmers)
  • Work with primary SAS platform admin to forecast capacity needs (compute, storage, licensing)
  • Design and document best practices around setting up “SAS Sandbox capabilities”
  • Design optimal SAS Analytics Grid queues to support sandbox and production jobs
  • Add/manage nodes across the SAS Analytics Grids.
  • Manage high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) processes associated with the SAS Analytics Grid.
  • Work closely with other Enterprise BI administrators to ensure the platform meets-or-exceeds service level agreements (SLAs) and operational readiness requirements.
  • Ensure the SAS Analytics Grids meet corporate security standards and policies, and participate in the development of procedures and tools in support of them.
  • Participate in key architectural and engineering decisions related to the SAS Analytics Grid.
  • Contribute to any Business Intelligence and Analytic tools roadmap and strategy
  • Perform platform troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Support all areas of SAS Analytics Grid platform, assisting with problems pertaining to accessing Grid nodes or data, including acting as a liaison to SAS technical support.
  • Develop reporting metrics for the SAS Analytics Grids (utilization, availability, and performance).
  • Effectively communicate both in writing and verbal
  • Conduct meetings and sessions to review analytical modeling best practices


Qualifications


Qualification and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience administering and / or engineering the SAS Analytics Grid platform
  • 5+ years of experience with a proven track record of supporting an enterprise-scale technology platform (BI, analytics, RDMBS, ETL, application server, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience with LINUX / UNIX operating systems
  • 7+ years of experience working with SQL and DDL (Oracle, Netezza, other)
  • 5+ years of developing SAS code
  • 2+ years of experience writing “R” or Python code and modeling
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of technologies integrated with the SAS platform, examples of which include: database client software, autosys, storage devices
  • Experience with the Hortonworks Hadoop platform or other Hadoop platform a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Solid writing and communication skills
  • Experience with building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, clients, peers, supervisors, subordinates and other internal company staff
  • Experience with one-or-more popular LINUX / UNIX scripting languages, including Bash, KornShell, Perl, etc.

  • SAS Enterprise Guide, “R” and R-studio, Python, Linux Scripting, Perl, Base SAS, SAS Stat,
  • Databases: Netezza, Oracle, Hadoop, noSQL, postgres, mongodb
  • SQL and SQL tools, OLAP Technologies,
  • Tableau or other data visualization tool

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required (Computer Science, Math, Statistics or like preferred)

Hours & Work Schedule:
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: 8am – 5pm
