The Data and Analytics Team at the Southern New Hampshire University’s College of Online and Continuing Education (COCE) is currently seeking a Business Insights Analyst. This role will support the Academic Analytics leadership team by providing insightful, actionable, data driven analysis and recommendations that will have a positive impact on student outcomes.

This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen, familiarity with SQL, and the ability to work with business teams and executives. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to have impact and innovate in this space.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Enable effective decision making by gathering, and analyzing large amounts of data
  • Partnering with department leaders to build analytical solutions to deliver on business goals
  • Structure complex, ambiguous business questions and utilize strong analytical skillset to drive insightful analysis using internal and external data (e.g. student success, student behavior, industry, staff engagement) to answer key business questions raised by the team
  • Leverage story-telling skills to deliver insights that are clear, concise and actionable
  • Collaborate with data scientists to leverage sophisticated analytical models in order to gain an understanding of business drivers and/or to modernize business processes
  • Analyze trends and explore correlations and to provide cohesive, actionable presentations for stakeholders at all levels

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years practical experience in a quantitative, data-driven business environment working with data directly to understand how it impacts business results and decisions
  • Experience applying analytics to solve real-life business problems
  • Independent and critical thinking
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as business, mathematics, or sciences
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases and drive change
  • Knowledge of database structures and database querying tools, and prior data manipulation experience with tools such as SQL, Excel, R, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret statistical models
  • Ability to communicate highly technical and mathematical concepts to a non-technical audience

Work Hours:

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with flexibility to meet business demands as needed.
