Senior Manager Information Systms – Basis Lead

Amgen is seeking an Information Systems (IS) Senior Manager – SAP Basis Manager to join the Enterprise Platforms & Corporate Functions group and will be responsible for developing and executing a global MDM strategy across multiple MDM domains with an initial focus on framework to support Amgen’s current Source-to-Pay and Global ERP Program. The Senior Manager will lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects and programs to support the development of processes, drive improved master data quality, standardization and governance of master data. The incumbent has responsibility to develop processes, set the operating parameters for master data management, its’ usage and to drive resolution of data issues which will enable business users to make decisions based on high-quality data and well-managed information assets.

The Senior Manager Information Systems – SAP Basis Manager will report to the Director IS based out of Amgen’s Capability Center in Tampa, Florida. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing and leading the technical ERP team and for delivering critical technology services to support steady state ERP Production operations and new Projects for core SAP applications. The SAP Basis Manager will be counted on to engage frequently with (Global Business Services) GBS/IS Executive management and partner closely with key Business and IS stakeholders in other organizations.

Key Activities for the Senior Manager Information Systems include:

Prepare and execute Global ERP Technology Roadmap including infrastructure upgrades, Software upgrades, SAP Support Packs, Kernel Updates and Security

Act as primary interface for developing and managing the Global ERP technology roadmap including ERP software upgrades and coordination of associated infrastructure upgrades

Act as a single point of contact/SME for ERP technical landscape

Provide operational support for ERP system to ensure system availability per our agreed SLA’s and implement proactive measures to reduce the number of unplanned outages

Manage Global ERP Infrastructure Team in a managed service environment for operations as well as implementation of approved infrastructure related projects

Improve internal COE processes related to Maintenance & Production Support for SAP Landscape including environment refreshes, client administration, transport management etc.

Direct and Partner with Basis, Security, Development, RUN and Build teams to achieve ERP COE goals and objectives

Ensure successful delivery of the weekly, monthly and quarterly releases from Infrastructure/Basis perspective

Publish a Global ERP System Activity Calendar (including monthly maintenance, trimester releases) and ensure that it aligns across other IS Enterprise systems & stakeholders

Work with IS shared infrastructure team to plan & execute Production Disaster Recovery failover and failback

Ensure business continuity during critical Production issues and ensure that problem management process is initiated and root cause analysis completed

Ensure that Global ERP Systems adhere to Amgen corporate, GMP and SOX compliance requirements, including execution of periodic reviews/attestations

Manage ERP related communications

Act as an escalation point for system related technical issues and get engaged as needed in critical system related issues/events.

Translate internal COE system related requirements into infrastructure requirements and work with infrastructure stakeholders to ensure requirements are met

Leverage deep SAP Technical experience to guide project planning, resource allocation, troubleshooting and resolution of complex SAP technical issues

Provide technical SME support for new projects, feasibility analysis studies or proofs of concept

Maintain vendor relationships

Update & maintain ERP system design document(s) and ensure alignment with IS architecture, Security & other groups within IS

Mentor Technical team members and coach them with their career planning

Develop training plan for each team member and implement rotational system ownership

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master’s degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

B.S. degree or M.S. degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Information Systems

B.S. or M.S. or MBA degree in a plus

Previous experience managing Technical team (Basis, Security, Development) with direct reports

Previous Service or System Ownership of an enterprise application, familiarity with IS standards/policies and Service Management tools and processes

Good understanding of the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) process framework and a managed service model in order to ensure that clients/project teams can obtain services efficiently

7+ years of experience in the deploying and supporting complex Enterprise environments

2+ years of experience of operating in a global managed service environment

Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills

Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and direct cross-functional teams to address and solve technical and business issues

Management experience in all aspects of an information systems environment

Portfolio and project management skills

Demonstrated ability to coordinate/lead multiple projects/activities with competing priorities

Good understanding of SAP technical Basis/NetWeaver concepts and hands-on experience

Multi-year experience in supporting a complex SAP landscape with architecture, design and deployment experience of major release/project roll-out

Understand service models and ability to prioritize based on impacts to business operations
