Cobol Developer

JOB SUMMARY

Analyzes, develops, tests, and implements mainframe code based on business/technical specifications and development standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Analyzes, develops and modifies mainframe programs equipped with an understanding of the general business unit functions, technical skills, tools, training, and business requirements documented by the Business Analysts.
• Complete unit testing of programs.
• Participate with QA Analysts, Business Analysts, and business units in resolving issues found during system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
• Assist associates with system functionality, programming advice, and testing techniques.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• 1 -3 years’ experience; education and experience may be combined to satisfy experience requirements: Knowledge the field of computer science along with advanced knowledge of various web-enabling computer languages
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business related software
• Must be able to recognize, anticipate and resolve problems
• Must be able to follow well-defined standards
• Utilize thorough technical and theoretical understanding of several techniques to complete assigned tasks
• Experience/Knowledge of the following:
• COBOL, JCL, CICS
• RDBMS: DB2 / IMS
• File System: VSAM
• Middleware: MQ
• Job scheduling: TWS
• Build tools: Easytrieve, CA-7, IBM Debug tool for z/OS, Syncsort, SPUFI
• SCM: Rational Developer of System z (RDz), ChangeMan, Endeavor
• Migrating legacy systems to SOA
• Webservices

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
