Senior Analyst, Business Strategy & Analytics

Promidian, a division of The Access Group, is building a Data Analytics team and this is a ground-floor opportunity to join as a Senior Analyst in either our San Francisco or Princeton locations. You will be an important contributor to the success of Promidian’s new Business Analytics & Strategy consulting practice. The Senior Analyst is a client-facing member of the project delivery team, and is responsible for providing data analytics and strategy support to Consultants and Engagement Managers overseeing data-driven engagements for leading life science companies.

Essential Responsibilities (include and are not limited to):

  • Work closely with your project team to analyze healthcare data (payer, provider, 3rd party) to inform strategic business questions such as sales force effectiveness and customer targeting
  • Write detailed analysis plans to align on analytic strategy with your client and project team, then develop models and algorithms to execute your plan and bring your vision to life
  • Clean and normalize messy data inputs to ensure analyses are accurate and ready to be presented to project stakeholders including C-suite executives
  • Script data analytics programs to solve complex coding problems using programming techniques such as macros, loops, cursors, etc. (or open source packages if one already exists!)
  • Review and debug data scripts independently and as part of a working group
  • Document and proactively communicate key assumptions that may impact business takeaways especially when it comes to synthesizing commercial recommendations
  • Develop presentations in PowerPoint to communicate key findings to internal project team members and external client stakeholders; present your work directly to clients
  • Conduct therapeutic area research and general market research to ensure all analyses are completed with an understanding of broader marketplace and context
  • Generate ad-hoc queries to support new business development efforts and help build pitch decks
  • Take ownership of end-to-end work-streams while training and mentoring new data analysts

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics, engineering, or mathematics
  • 3+ years of work experience analyzing healthcare data using SAS or R at a consulting firm, technology company, research institution, or healthcare organization
  • Excellent coding skills in at least one statistical package (SAS or R) and the ability to quickly learn new technical skills as necessary
  • Experience analyzing claims data including medical and prescription drug claims
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with individuals at various levels of seniority
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • The ability to prioritize and complete high quality deliverables in a limited time frame

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, business analytics, etc. preferred but not required
  • Programming experience in SQL, Python, or ETL development packages desired
  • Fluent in Excel-VBA and able to build complex models in Excel including forecasting models
  • Background in analyzing oncology or other rare disease data
  • Experience with business intelligence data visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlik
  • Willingness to travel as necessary (all hands on deck mentality)
