Assists in the operation and maintenance of an Outdoor Recreation facility including Information, Ticket, and Tours (ITT), Equipment Checkout, and Outdoor Adventure Program. Issues and receives recreational equipment including boats, motors, campers, ski equipment, camping equipment, etc. Completes pre-checkout requirements on all outgoing equipment to ensure its operational and general condition. Inspects and notes any damage on returned equipment. Performs on-the-spot minor repairs and assists in maintaining and repairing defective equipment. Responsible for accurate cash and computations and collection of fees, cash receipts, cashier reports, and deposits. Assists customers with ski fitting/setting of skis and ensures the repair and maintenance on skis, poles, and bindings is complete. Maintains accurate records on ski, boat, and camper rentals. Completes/reviews maintenance logs weekly on all equipment. Conducts monthly inventory of all resale items. Promptly reports loss or any accounting discrepancies to the manager. Assists with annual ski promotion. Ensures marketing receives publicity information in a timely manner. Assists Director in promotion of the Outdoor Adventure Program and other projects. Ensures volunteer cards are correctly filled out and follow-up letters are written. Directs work for three to four employees and provides Director feedback for performance evaluations and personnel actions. Ensures all employees are trained on operating procedures, safety standards, and current information to disseminate to customers. Reports directly to the Commons Manager who provides guidance to ensure satisfactory operation of the Equipment Checkout section. Performs other duties as required. Position is a position of trust.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and provide a copy of driving record, be willing and able to transport youth and adults in Wyoming and surrounding areas in a government vehicle. Must be 18 years of age. Must be able to work varied shifts to include evenings and weekends. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must satisfactorily complete installation, state and national criminal background checks. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. (IAW AFI 90-508)

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Must be courteous and exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public, employees and supervisors. Must perform in compliance with Air Force regulation and carries out written and oral assignments acceptably and within required time frames. Make efficient use of materials and takes proper care of facilities, supplies and equipment. Operates motor vehicles in a proper manner, complies with rules and regulations, has no more than one minor traffic violation, and no major violations due to employee’s negligence per rating period. Must have the ability to provide input to programming, carry out and administer program plans.

TRAINING

All formal and informal training applicable to this position as deemed necessary by the supervisor, including but not limited to facility operation, customer service, code of ethics, fire, AFOSH, bomb threat, resource protection, building security, child abuse and neglect, working with youth and behind the wheel training.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
