Quality Assurance – Body Product Engineer

Who we’re looking for

The Product Quality & Service Support team is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a Product Engineer position in the Customer Quality Services, Vehicle and Component Quality (VCQ) – Body Department.

The Product Engineer will be responsible for communicating honestly and objectively with Toyota management and Japan staff, field organization members, department and divisional affiliates/associates, and external representatives.

Reporting to the Supervisor ,the person in this role will support the Quality Assurance department’s objective to maximizing overall vehicle and component product quality, customer satisfaction, brand loyalty, and repeat purchase of Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

What you’ll be doing

Lead Early Detection/Early Resolution (EDER) through the following ways:

  • Provide technical expertise in the identification and resolution of body related product quality issues
  • Use field information and technical source to identify field quality problems and have them investigate/counter-measured by responsible divisions (plant, design, supplier, distributor, etc.).
  • Review/process field reports
  • Daily review and investigation of warranty return parts to conduct ERED
  • Travel with short notice for genchi genbutsu (go and see) to reduce time between first report of quality problem to the customer being satisfied
  • Handle and coordinate multiple quality issues from detection to closure

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering/Automotive Technology or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Familiar with warranty analysis
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally

Added bonus if you have

  • Product Engineer or Quality Engineer experience
  • PQSS CQS or CQE/Assembly Plant Vehicle Quality department experience
  • Toyota Master Diagnostic and/or Lexus Master Service Technician Certification
  • Technical experience to include “hands on” automotive experience
