The Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering and the EMS Energy Institute at Penn State invites applications for one (1) immediate postdoctoral scholar, to conduct autonomous research with our FCMG Chair in Fluid Behavior and Rock Interactions: Dr. Russell T. Johns. The applicant will be expected to work on projects that involve analytic, computational, or experimental studies in flow in porous media and hydrocarbon fluid behavior. Applications will include enhanced oil recovery (ASP and solvent flooding) and development of a new way of performing compositional simulation that avoids use of current relative permeability and capillary pressure models. Preference will be given to candidates with strong written and oral communication skills, excellent computer skills, and substantial exposure to programming languages (C++, FORTRAN, others). Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline or related field. Expertise in a petroleum engineering technical discipline, such as reservoir engineering, is required.
