Oracle Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting Specialist

Job Description:

Senior Oracle SME (8+ years’ experience), who will provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by supporting application development team for SQL tuning, Guidance on best practices for SQL coding and perform reviews and documentation. This role will participate in software development and support efforts for large banking and financial applications using Oracle 10g/11g databases.

Summary:

• Please not that this is NOT A DBA ROLE.

• Must have extensive experience working closely with the Application Development teams.

• Strong PL/SQL experience

• “SUPERIOR” level Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting skills.

• Proficiency in diagnosing performance issues across application tiers

• PL/SQL development experience of all types of SQL DML statements – functions, stored procs, triggers etc.

• Proactive Code Reviews and follow-ups to communicate best practices.

• Will be a part of the Oracle Team supporting a wide array of application development teams developing custom n-tier applications.

• Should have experience & ability to work with various teams to resolve performance issues

• Understand and recommend industry best practices and standards

• GoldenGate is HUGE PLUS but not a disqualifying skill.

Mandatory Skills:

• Very Strong database development experience using Oracle 11g/10g.

• Expert in SQL & PL/SQL modules such as packages, procedures, functions and other database objects.

• Expert in Performance Tuning of application code at the database level.

• Experience in Unix/Linux and Shell scripting.

• Good Knowledge of DBA skills using Oracle 11g/10g.

• Good Knowledge of Data Modeling Concepts using Relational / Object Models and techniques.

• Excellent oral/written communication.

Optional Skills:

• Huge Plus – Not mandatory – Any experience in Oracle Goldengate / Data Guard Replication Configuration & Troubleshooting and Working closely with Global Support DBA teams in addressing the data issues.

• Knowledge of Java/J2EE technologies will be added advantage.
